Job Summary
NAV CANADA is seeking self‑motivated and detail‑oriented Junior System Test Analysts to join our technology team. These entry‑level positions are ideal for someone passionate about quality assurance, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to real‑world software projects that support and shape the present and future of Air Navigation Services in Canada. You’ll work closely with system test specialists and cross‑functional teams to support test planning, test case development, test execution, defect tracking, and verification activities.
You will help ensure that systems meet functional, performance, and safety requirements by conducting structured testing, analyzing results, and collaborating to resolve issues and improve overall system quality.

- Assist in the development and execution of test cases and test procedures based on system requirements.
- Perform functional, regression, and integration testing to ensure software meets expected behaviour and quality standards.
- Document, track, and support the resolution of defects and issues in collaboration with developers and system engineers.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of test plans, test scripts, and test data.
- Support test environment setup and validation, ensuring required preconditions and configurations are met.
- Analyze test results and provide clear and accurate reporting on system performance and quality.
- Stay current with testing tools, techniques, and quality assurance practices to support continuous improvement.
- Degree from a recognized university or community college with an acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, engineering, or an acceptable combination of education, experience, and training.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in software or system testing, quality assurance, or validation activities; this may include co‑op placements or internships.
- Experience executing test cases and working with test plans, test scripts, and test procedures.
- Exposure to defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure Dev Ops, IBM Jazz) and basic defect lifecycle processes.
- Familiarity with software development and testing within Agile or team‑based environments.
- Basic experience supporting test environments, configurations, or setup activities.
- Knowledge of software testing principles and methodologies, including functional, regression, and integration testing.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and the role of testing throughout the process.
- Familiarity with test case design techniques and expected results validation.
- Awareness of system functionality, interfaces, and dependencies, including APIs or integrated systems.
- Knowledge of quality assurance practices, including defect management, traceability, and documentation standards.
- Ability to follow structured processes and execute test procedures.
- Ability to analyze test results and identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, or defects.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and determine whether problems are related to code, environment, or test setup.
- Ability to balance multiple assignments and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Effective oral and written communication skills in English.

This is a hybrid position with a minimum requirement of 3 days per week on site. Typically conducted in a cubicle and/or open office and/or meeting room and/or lab environments using computer‑based tools. Travel may be required on occasion.
