About IDRC and What we do

International Development Research Centre (IDRC) supports research that tackles global challenges in health, education, economic opportunities, and much more. As a student, you’ll gain hands‑on experience, learn how an international development research organization works and contribute to the advancement of our mandate.

You will integrate a multicultural team that values diversity, equity, and inclusion, build enriching relationships with experienced stakeholders and benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work environment; all while helping turn knowledge into real‑world impact.

Students play an important role in supporting IDRC’s work. Depending on your field of study and area of interest, you may support a variety of research, program, or corporate activities.

• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada or an international student authorized to work in Canada for the full duration of the employment.
• Be enrolled in full‑time studies at the time of application and return to studies in the next academic term, (or if you’re in your final year, have been previously employed under either the Federal Student Work Experience Program, the Co‑op/Internship Program or the Research Affiliate Program Education).

  The Centre provides a hybrid work environment, and your presence at the office is governed by the teleworking policy.
