Position Summary
Professor Claude Bhérer’s Lab needs a Research Assistant 2 to support a collaborative research project on complex diseases through genetic epidemiology analyses.
Contract PeriodJune 22, 2026 – October 23, 2026.
Responsibilities- Conduct analyses such as polygenic risk score construction and Mendelian randomization to investigate genetic contributions to disease risk and outcomes.
- Develop and implement scripts and scalable analytical workflows to support data processing and research activities.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, contribute to data interpretation, and support the generation of high-quality and reproducible research outputs.
- Write theoretical or methodological reports, papers or articles related to research activities.
- Provide technical guidance and training to research staff, including Research Assistants 1, undergraduate/graduate student research assistants and technicians.
- Perform various administrative tasks related to the project.
- MSc in Human Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science or a related field.
- Background in human genetics, genetic epidemiology and statistical genetics.
- Experience analyzing large-scale sequencing and genotyping datasets.
- Familiarity with methods such as PRS construction, Mendelian randomization, and association analyses.
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (Python, R, Bash) and experience developing reproducible workflows.
- Experience working in collaborative research environments and handling large datasets.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to contribute to interdisciplinary research projects.
Knowledge of French and English. The position requires English communication at level #4 (qualifier) on a scale of 0–4.
Salary, Hours and LocationHourly Salary: $32.15. Hours per week: 35 (Full time).
