This role is ideal for graduate students enrolled in programs related to Remote Sensing, Geomatics, Data Science, or Geography. As a research assistant, you will assess Earth Observation data, investigate methodologies for machine learning, and design experiments utilizing remote sensing and bioclimatic variables. This position is aimed at full-time students, requiring 10-20 hours of commitment weekly.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assess bioclimatic predictor variables for wetland identification
• Investigate machine learning methodologies for classifications
• Design remote sensing experiments and research protocols
• Script and refine data processing in Python and R
• Analyze data and effectively communicate research findings
Requirements:
• Enrolled in a relevant graduate MSc program
• Experience with satellite imagery processing
• Background in Canadian wetland ecosystems
• Proficient in Python and R scripting
• Familiarity with machine learning algorithms in image analysis
Utilize your data science skills to contribute to vital environmental research at Environment and Climate Change Canada.
