Clinical Research Assistant

The Aging Innovation in Medicine and Surgery (AIMS) Research Program at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute is seeking a Research Assistant to support participant follow-up and outcome data collection across several clinical research studies. The Research Assistant will primarily conduct scheduled follow-up assessments with research participants, including the administration of standardized and validated questionnaires by telephone, and will accurately enter study data into research databases.
Many of these assessments capture important study outcomes related to disability, recovery, quality of life, health care use, and the patient experience following surgery. The successful candidate will be comfortable communicating with patients, including older adults and individuals recovering from major surgery, and will demonstrate professionalism, empathy, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to high-quality research data collection.
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in health sciences, psychology, social sciences, rehabilitation sciences, kinesiology, or another relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish rapport with research participants while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Comfortable speaking by telephone with individuals who may be older, unwell, fatigued, or recovering from surgery.
- Previous experience in clinical or health research, particularly involving participant follow-up or data collection.
- Experience administering standardized questionnaires, structured interviews, or patient-reported outcome measures.
- Experience conducting telephone-based participant interviews or follow-up assessments.
- Experience working with older adults, surgical patients, or individuals with complex health needs.
This is a full-time contract
Salary:
Min: $44,805/Annum – Max: $59,740/Annum
