• Pay Rate: $26.00/hour during probation, $27.00/hour after probation
• Overtime:
  Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

If you are an ACTIVE student at Algonquin College, you will not be considered for this position.

• Week 1 – 0700‑1900 – 4 days (Mon‑Tue, Fri‑Sat)
• Week 2 – 0700‑1900 – 3 days (Sun, Wed‑Thu)
• Week 3 – 1900‑0700 – 4 days (Mon‑Tue, Fri‑Sat)
• Week 4 – 1900‑0700 – 3 days (Sun, Wed‑Thu)

Note:

The schedule remains the same month‑to‑month.

• Patrol assigned area on foot, bicycle, or motor vehicle to ensure personal, building, and equipment security.
• Ensure students, staff, and visitors adhere to college policies, directives, and regulations.
• Monitor activities and respond to incidents such as criminal activity, security breaches, assaults, sexual assaults, harassment, theft, mischief, public order, noise complaints, safety hazards, etc.
• Assist with investigations by gathering information, photo and video documentation, and completing comprehensive written incident reports.
• Respond and coordinate with emergency responders during fire, evacuations, bomb threats, critical violent acts, lockdowns, or medical emergencies.
• Provide customer service support, including directions on campus.
• Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.

• Conduct security patrols independently.
• Remain calm and effectively perform during emergencies.
• Write comprehensive reports and maintain proper records.
• Effective verbal communication skills.
• Detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
• Basic knowledge of security procedures, handling violent behaviors, and non‑defensive communication.
• Enforce safety codes, college regulations, and procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service orientation.
• Handle confidential information with discretion.
• Present a professional image to the public.
• Adhere to the company's Code of Ethics.
• Follow specific instructions and procedures.
• Adapt to various environmental factors during exterior patrols.
• Engage in moderate physical activity (standing/walking for extended periods).

• Minimum one year in security or related field.
• Police Foundations Diploma strongly preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Demonstrates superior customer service skills and works independently.
• Commit to continental rotation for at least six (6) months.
• Knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act and Section 494 of the Criminal Code required.
• Authorized to legally work in Canada.
• Must be 18 years old and meet all other minimum requirements.
• Must possess a valid Security Guard License in Ontario.
• Full driver's license (G) strongly preferred.
• Valid First Aid certification.
