About the position
DutiesAs Senior Manager, Physical Security, you provide strategic leadership for integrating physical security across major capital projects and operations within the parliamentary precinct. You ensure security strategies, controls, and governance are risk‑informed, consistently applied, and aligned with parliamentary policies, directives, and standards.
You lead collaboration with internal partners, external agencies, consultants, and service providers to identify security gaps, drive mitigation strategies, and embed physical security throughout project design, construction, and operational readiness. You also provide strategic leadership, guidance and/or advice to Security Working Groups and governance forums, supporting informed decisions on zoning, access control, surveillance, intrusion detection, and perimeter addition, you oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of physical security policies, standards, and procedures, adapting to evolving threats.
Through leadership of risk assessments and security strategy development, you help protect parliamentarians, staff, visitors, and critical infrastructure while balancing security, accessibility, and operational effectiveness.
Work environment
The Parliamentary Protective Service (PPS) is a separate and distinct organization not subject to the Public Service Employment Act. It has its own classification, compensation system, and staffing regime. Persons appointed to PPS continue to be part of the federal government and will receive the public service pension plan and public service insurance benefits plan.
