Compensation Pay Range: $27.51 - $33.74
Position SummaryThe Security Guard provides assistance to patients, staff and visitors by responding to code calls, conducting investigations, performing security patrols, covering the parking lot attendant, and carrying out administrative duties.
Responsibilities- Assist patients, staff and visitors.
- Guard and protect patients, staff and visitors; restrain violent persons when necessary.
- Arm and disarm the Fire Control System.
- Escort staff and visitors to parking lots and to pathology/morgue.
- Verify the physical security of CHEO property through patrols, door checks and response to calls for service.
- Respond to code calls including elevator occurrences, stat calls from the units and alarms in the Physical Plant.
- Conduct initial investigations (thefts, motor vehicle collisions, suspicious persons/activities, animal control, policy incidents, safety/security and fire risks).
- Enforce parking regulations and the Trespass to Property Act on CHEO property.
- Perform duties of the parking attendant as required.
- Monitor and maintain video surveillance systems, access control system and respond to alarms.
- Write reports and enter incident details using approved software.
- Perform work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all CHEO corporate/departmental policies related to occupational health and safety.
- Perform work in accordance with the Private Security and Investigative Services Act and regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager.
- Diploma in Law and Security or Police Sciences (essential).
- Minimum two (2) years of related work experience (essential).
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License (essential).
- Superior oral and written communication skills (essential).
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills (essential).
- Demonstrated conflict resolution skills (essential).
- Non‑violent crisis intervention certificate (preferred).
- Fall prevention certification (preferred).
- Vulnerable Sector Check (essential).
- Bilingual (English/French) (preferred).
