Adult Crossing Guard Safety Council

Ensure pedestrian safety as an Adult Crossing Guard with the Ottawa Safety Council. This critical role requires strong communication skills and physical stamina to guide children and adults safely across streets.

As an Adult Crossing Guard, you will work a minimum of five shifts weekly during school bell times, ensuring safety in all weather conditions from August to June. You'll need effective communication skills and a commitment to adhering to safety regulations. The position includes responsibilities like monitoring traffic flow, reporting unsafe behaviors, and maintaining focus while escorting pedestrians safely.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct pedestrians safely across intersections

• Communicate traffic regulations effectively

• Report unsafe student behaviors to school officials

• Inspect intersection safety daily

• Record license plates of dangerous motorists

Requirements:

• Smart Phone with data plan required

• Valid Ontario Driver’s License is an asset

• Valid Standard First Aid with CPR C certification preferred

• Police Records Check must be provided

• Strong English communication skills
