The Ottawa Safety Council is hiring Adult Crossing Guards to work Monday through Friday during school bell times, ranging from 40 minutes to 2 hours shifts. You will direct pedestrians, communicate safety rules, and inspect intersections daily. This is an essential service for community road safety, focused on maintaining a secure environment for everyone.
Key Responsibilities:
• Direct or escort pedestrians across streets effectively
• Communicate traffic rules clearly to students and adults
• Inspect intersections and report unsafe conditions
• Maintain a calm and professional demeanor
• Monitor traffic flow for safe crossing opportunities
Requirements:
• Smart Phone with data plan is mandatory
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License is an asset
• Effective English communication skills required
• Availability for AM and PM shifts Monday to Friday
• Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector is needed
Contribute to community safety by being a dedicated Adult Crossing Guard with the Ottawa Safety Council.
