Retail Loss Prevention

Securiguard is seeking passionate and experienced individuals to join our team as Asset Protection Security Guards. Join us in this elite role where your vigilance and dedication contribute to the overall safety and success of our retail partner.

As a Loss Prevention Security Guard at Securiguard, you safeguard assets and minimize losses for our retail client. You conduct routine surveillance, observe and prevent theft, fraud, or other security breaches. You patrol the premises, interact with customers and employees to deter potential incidents while maintaining a high level of customer service. Your role includes investigating suspicious activities, reviewing CCTV footage, collaborating with law enforcement when necessary, and crafting detailed incident reports.

You enforce security protocols, de‑escalate conflicts, and, when needed, make lawful arrests to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers.

• Valid Security Guard License and First Aid/CPR certification
• At least 2 years of security experience in a high‑profile customer‑focused environment such as retail, government, or healthcare/respite shelters
• Previous Use of Force training and arrest experience (asset)
• Ability to work at different sites across Ottawa, Ontario
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to prepare professional daily and/or incident security reports
• Knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act (TPA), Canada Criminal Code and 494(c)
• Conflict resolution and de‑escalation skills
• Ability to conduct arrests in appropriate and sanctioned situations
• Military/Police/Law Enforcement background (asset)
• Strong observational skills and situational awareness
• Punctuality
• Ability to stand/patrol up for up to 12 hours

$23.00 to $27.50 per hour, with progressions and promotions based on performance.

Completion of Use of Force Training, Lawful Subject Restraint, and Crisis Management training is required for this role and will be re‑certified annually. The training is provided to new employees along with Securiguard University orientation courses for skill development.
