Reporting to the Director – Corporate Security & Intelligence, the Security Systems Administrator (SSA) provides technical support for VIA Rail’s access management (ACMS) for personnel and facilities as well as video surveillance (VSS) systems perimeter intrusion detection systems. This person is the point of contact for general access issues and act as a subject matter expert regarding video surveillance and privacy.

The SSA must establish and maintain a relationship of trust and ensure customer satisfaction by providing tailored service and high-quality work. Furthermore, identify operational issues and propose actions/solutions to optimize the service delivery, processes and procedures while providing a high-quality service. The SSA must stay up to date on technological developments to monitor the evolution of systems, equipment, and software.

Responsibilities
  • Manage employee and contractor access for VIA Rail’s access management (ACMS) and video surveillance (VSS) systems through ACMS and VSS software. Grant or revoke the necessary access according to standards, policies, and security instructions. Aid team members during complex situations. Provide peer training and guidance to ensure proper usage of the ACMS and VSS systems. Validate, analyze, and modify the technical documentation, as needed;
  • Ensure the proper functioning of VIA Rail’s ACMS, VSS, and station closure system through the Train Status Information (TSI) tracking system. Work in collaboration with Information Technology partners. Engage with and provide direction to contracted services to ensure these systems are working optimally. Provide recommendations on how to improve these systems’ coverage and usage. Identify security vulnerabilities and provide solutions. Further develop VIA Rail’s ACMS system database and expiry programs.

    Assess and integrate new technologies to support the mandate of the Corporate Security Intelligence department;
  • Manage and support ACMS and VSS access requests while ensuring all laws, policies, regulations, evidence act, and procedures are respected. Ensure that processes and instructions are followed. Provide guidance and advice to stakeholders and signal all problematic requests. Escalate critical situations to the next level. Manages all perimeter intrusion detection systems, including Key Control systems;
  • Participate in various Corporate Security Intelligence projects and initiatives. This may include: risk assessments and mitigation; managing security clearances; security briefings; security awareness; implementing insider threat programs; reporting security concerns; and compliance.
What We Are Looking For
  • Must be able to obtain, and maintain, a Government of Canada Secret Security clearance;
  • College degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience including a minimum of:
    • Minimum of two years experience in the security field;
    • Minimum of two years experience with access management (ACMS) and/or video surveillance (VSS) systems;
  • Certification related to the security industry such as the Certified Protection Professional (CPPⓇ) is an asset;
  • Extensive knowledge of Information Technology and technological environments. Advanced knowledge of office and operational applications (Exchange, Office 365, etc.);
  • Experience in key control systems and perimeter intrusion detection systems can be considered assets;
