Protect students and pedestrians as a part-time School Crossing Guard, using clear commands, hand signals, and sound traffic judgment.
This seasonal position supports assigned school crossings for up to two hours daily. Guards control traffic, instruct pedestrians, and assess safe crossing opportunities. The work requires awareness of weather, road conditions, traffic gaps, vehicle speed, and distracted driving.
Key Responsibilities:- Control traffic for safe, supervised student crossings
- Instruct pedestrians in safe crossing procedures
- Communicate using spoken commands, hand signals, and devices
- Report incidents, unsafe behavior, and site conditions
- Apply salt or sand near crosswalks when necessary
- Minimum high school diploma
- Knowledge of applicable Highway Traffic Act requirements
- Clear vision, hearing, alertness, and sure footing
- Ability to stand outdoors for approximately one hour
- Reliable transportation, medical examination, and Vulnerable Sector Check
Support safe school travel through attentive traffic control, clear communication, and responsible judgment at assigned crossings.
