Position InformationAre you a carpenter looking for an exciting new opportunity? The Ottawa Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced candidate for the position of Civil Tradesperson. As a valued member of the Facilities Management team, the Civil Tradesperson performs minor construction and maintenance, including installing Gyproc, door frames and doors, hardware, walls and flooring. This position also installs and repairs suspended ceilings, and installs carpet, floor tiles and ceramic tile.
Rotation/ShiftsDays, 8 hour shifts (07:00-15:00 or 08:00-16:00).
Salary InformationThe hourly rate includes a $1.50 market premium.
Basic Requirements- Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12);
- Ontario Certification of Qualification in one of the following trades: carpentry, plastering, masonry;
- Five (5) years experience in the aforementioned trades, achieved within the last 10 years;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A well developed listening skill to interpret staff and public requirements;
- Knowledge of building and fire code requirements as related to construction projects;
- Knowledge of adhesives, power tools, hand tools related to construction projects;
- Knowledge of construction of walls, ceilings, etc.;
- Knowledge of WHIMS;
- Knowledge of minor construction and maintenance including drywall, painting, door frames, doors, hardware, walls, repairs/replacement of suspended ceiling systems and flooring installations involving carpet and VCT;
- Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings;
- Eligible to work in Canada.
