Housing Support Specialist

Position: Housing Support Specialist with The Salvation Army
Join The Salvation Army’s mission by becoming a Housing Specialist focused on supporting those in need. This role enhances housing options for individuals experiencing homelessness in the Ottawa community.

In this integral position, you'll be responsible for recruiting landlords, creating a diverse inventory of housing options, and advocating for client needs. Your ongoing collaboration with team members ensures that clients receive tailored assistance and that all housing initiatives align with program goals. You'll also develop communication tools that effectively reach community partners and landlords.

Key Responsibilities:

• Recruit landlords and manage housing inventory

• Assist clients with applications and landlord negotiations

• Educate landlords on program benefits and supports

• Maintain accurate case documentation

• Develop marketing and awareness resources for projects

Requirements:

• Completion of a relevant post-secondary degree

• At least 1 year of community relationship experience

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Valid Class “G” driver’s license required

• Experience with Housing Based Case Management preferred
