Provide compassionate support for vulnerable young women at Windrose Supportive Housing, managed by John Howard Society of Ottawa. This part-time role focuses on life skills and mental health assistance.
As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in helping young women who have faced homelessness or violence achieve positive community outcomes. You will work under the direction of the Residential Coordinator, delivering on-site supports and fostering skills in crisis management and peer relationships. Your empathetic approach will help build a safe and nurturing environment for residents.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in developing life skills among residents
• De-escalate crisis situations effectively
• Support youth with mental health challenges
• Maintain a safe and engaging living environment
• Collaborate with staff to create dynamic programming
Requirements:
• Degree or diploma in Social Sciences or related field
• Recent Criminal Record Check
• Commitment to anti-oppressive practices
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays
Support vulnerable youth in their transition to adulthood and help them thrive in a caring community.
