Job Description

Under the direction of the Manager, Community Employment Services, the Employment Consultant assists job seekers to obtain suitable employment. This support includes the implementation of a case management model and the development of an individual Employment Action Plan. Supports may include pre-employment and life-stabilization services; providing financial assistance to remove temporary barriers to participation in the labour market; outreach to employers to match clients to job vacancies;

determining financial incentives for employers; continued guidance/advise to clients to successfully reach their employment goal. Extensive monitoring will occur throughout the progression of the Employment Action Plan, and for a twelve‑month period following the client’s success in obtaining suitable and sustainable employment. To establish the degree of service required for each client, the Employment Consultant utilizes the “client segmentation model” and the common assessment tool.

The Employment Consultant secures job opportunities by contacting potential employers to discuss job vacancies; assists the employer in determining a client training plan and determines the amount of financial incentive to be provided to the employer. The Employment Consultant matches and places clients with the required skills, completes all necessary documentation and provides on‑going support to both employer and client while on placement.

The Employment Consultant provides on‑going support through the case management of each client and keeps accurate documentation and data collection of each interaction. The individual maintains statistically relevant information through established data management systems. The Employment Consultant collaborates with other staff and other community agencies to provide a seamless continuum of services to unemployed individuals.

Duties and Responsibilities Employment Advising
