Shape the future of youth as an Addictions Counsellor at the Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB). This term position focuses on providing crucial mental health support to students in a nurturing educational environment.
In this role, you will report to the Social Work Lead, delivering evidence-based counseling, crisis intervention, and prevention programming for students in grades 7-12. Engage with students, families, and community partners to enhance student well-being and academic achievement. Your expertise in addiction treatment and counseling will help students navigate their challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct in-depth substance use assessments with students
• Develop and monitor tailored recovery plans
• Provide individual and group counseling sessions
• Address student crises with effective interventions
• Design and implement prevention programs in schools
Requirements:
• Master’s degree in Social Work or addiction counseling
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in related fields
• Strong relationship-building skills with students
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills
• Sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds
