About the Job
We are searching for a Staff Level iOS Software Engineer to join our Engineering Team at Warner Bros. Discovery. As the Staff Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for the development team, independently tackle challenging technical problems, contribute to the technical direction, and mentor less experienced developers. The role will drive mobile tech strategy, architecture, best practices, and the choice of tools and technology stack across iOS app platforms, supporting mobile backend APIs, mobile CI/CD tools, and testing automation.
You will partner with Product, Design, and Delivery Leaders to help teams deliver product initiatives and operational execution.
- Provide technical leadership and direction for the iOS mobile development team.
- Mentor and guide less experienced developers.
- Drive mobile architecture, best practices, and technology stack decisions.
- Support mobile backend APIs, mobile CI/CD pipelines, and automation testing.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Delivery leaders to deliver on product initiatives.
- Assist with troubleshooting production problems, root‑cause analysis, and debugging.
- Develop, maintain, and evolve existing production systems that support CNN’s digital ecosystem.
- Ensure compliance with industry best practices, policies, and guidelines including architecture, security, governance, coding standards, monitoring, logging, unit testing, and service enablement.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Advanced understanding of troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, application design, and solutions development.
- Strong foundation in programming fundamentals such as data structures and algorithms.
- Full‑mobile stack development experience with native iOS clients (Swift/Objective‑C, Swift
UI). - Expert knowledge of mobile app architecture, performance, scalability, and security.
- Hands‑on experience with mobile Dev Ops, CI/CD tools and best practices, including deployment automation, code‑signing, and automated testing.
- Proficiency with Git and Bitrise.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience building flexible architecture to accommodate changing business requirements.
- Knowledge of Amazon AWS or other cloud computing platforms.
- General familiarity with database technologies (SQL, No
SQL, Graph
DB).
