Job Title: C++ Developer
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced C++ Developer. In this role, you contribute to an agile Telemetry Control Unit (TCU) application team, focusing on debugging, enhancing, and delivering robust software that supports next-generation vehicle programs and directly impacts the end customer experience.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain C++ applications within a Linux environment, with a focus on embedded systems and TCU-related functionality.Adhere to established coding standards and best practices to ensure high code quality, reliability, and maintainability.Collaborate closely with engineers and other stakeholders to gather requirements, design technical solutions, and implement new features in the TCU application and middleware layers.Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and workflows within the agile team.Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and helping to uphold technical excellence across the codebase.Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve software defects, including complex issues related to multi-process and multi-threaded applications.Develop clear and concise technical documentation for designs, implementations, and processes.Work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative, energetic team in the TCU organization.Proactively identify potential technical challenges and propose solutions to mitigate risks and improve system performance.Support software updates for TCU application and middleware layers, including features such as stolen vehicle functionality, diagnostics, and debugging and code quality tools.Essential Skills
Minimum 3 years of experience developing in C++ on Linux-based systems.Strong proficiency in modern C++ (C++11, C++14, C++17) within embedded systems environments.Hands-on experience with multi-process and multi-threaded programming in Linux.Solid understanding of concurrency and synchronization mechanisms, including mutexes and semaphores.Experience implementing data protection techniques in embedded or Linux-based applications.Practical experience working with Linux distributions, with Ubuntu preferred.Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for complex software systems.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with version control systems such as Git.Experience using profiling and debugging tools, for example gdb and valgrind.Experience working with hardware, including embedded testing and flashing.Secondary programming language experience, such as Python.Experience with Agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban.Experience with build systems, including CMake and Make.Experience with testing frameworks such as gtest, ptest, or CUnit.Experience with containerization technologies, such as Docker.Work Environment
This is an onsite role based in Ottawa, working five days per week in a collaborative development environment. You join an agile software team within the Telemetry Control Unit (TCU) organization that supports next-generation TCU software updates tied to forward-looking vehicle programs. The team focuses on application and middleware layer software, including features related to stolen vehicle functionality, diagnostics, and advanced debugging and code quality tools.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $62.25/hr.
