Intermediate Embedded Software Engineer – BSP/OS (Infotainment Platform)
Job Description
This Intermediate Embedded Software Engineer role focuses on developing and maintaining board support package (BSP) and operating system layers for a production infotainment platform. You will work on OS kernel drivers and core services such as file systems, graphics, networking, USB, WiFi, startup sequence, and camera services. The position spans the full embedded software development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to debugging, testing, and deployment, with a strong emphasis on system-level investigations and platform stability.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain C/C++ services and components for the infotainment system’s BSP and operating system layers.Develop and test kernel-level drivers, BSP components, and core services including file systems, graphics, networking, USB, and WiFi.Investigate system and BSP failures reported by internal users and external customers, performing debugging, issue reproduction, and root-cause analysis.Analyze and troubleshoot system-level issues related to OS and BSP layers, including black screens, frozen screens, and performance concerns.Participate in system design activities, contributing to architecture discussions, documentation, and implementation plans for a best-in-class infotainment system.Create and maintain technical documentation for BSP components, device drivers, and system services to support ongoing development and maintenance.Collaborate closely with other embedded software, OS, and platform teams to coordinate integration, resolve dependencies, and ensure overall system stability.Contribute to testing strategies, including acceptance testing and automated scripting, to validate BSP and driver functionality in a production environment.Apply software development best practices and coding standards, including MISRA-related concepts, to ensure high-quality, maintainable code.Engage in Agile development processes, including task tracking, sprint activities, and status reporting using tools such as Jira.Support system boot-up functionality and startup sequence services to ensure reliable and predictable platform behavior.Participate in critical investigations and system-level problem solving, taking broad ownership of technical issues across the OS and BSP stack.Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related scientific field.Minimum 5 years of experience working on operating systems, kernel drivers, and core services such as file systems, graphics, networking, USB, and WiFi.Minimum 3 years of embedded software development experience in a production software environment.Strong hands-on programming skills in C and C++, at an experienced level.Proven experience developing and testing BSP components and device drivers for embedded systems.Strong understanding of Linux operating systems, including kernel-level concepts and driver integration.Experience with embedded software and embedded systems, including hardware-software interaction and embedded system architecture.Ability to perform detailed debugging, issue reproduction, and root-cause analysis for complex system-level problems.Familiarity with Agile development processes and tools, including work tracking and collaboration.Strong analytical skills, with significant experience in troubleshooting OS and BSP-level system issues.Excellent written and oral communication skills for collaborating with distributed technical teams.Demonstrated passion for solving challenging technical problems with limited initial information.Additional Skills & Qualifications
