Position OverviewThis embedded electronics engineer will have a primary task of digital hardware development of embedded GNSS systems. This will be an active engineering role which will require innovation and close attention to detail. They will have the opportunity to acquire new skills while engaging in innovative product design. Experience with hardware design and embedded microcontroller software development will be required.
The embedded electronics engineer will be expected to develop new product features on embedded system platforms as well as support overall product test systems and operator configuration tool suites.
We welcome applications from candidates with relevant embedded systems experience, including recent graduates with strong co‑op, internship, research, or project-based experience.
Responsibilities- Develop real time location based embedded applications for highly integrated positioning systems.
- Implement and maintain peripheral components including LTE cellular, GNSS, Wi‑Fi, BLE, Ethernet, USB, CAN, and Serial.
- Code updates for proprietary Over the Air binary message protocols.
- Extend platform capabilities related to decryption of RTK service messages and resilient navigation capability.
- Support full system product software development.
- Hands‑on experience developing embedded systems, including firmware development, hardware design, system integration, testing, and debugging. Experience gained through professional work, co‑op terms, internships, research, or academic projects will be considered.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience with EDA tools, schematic capture, and PCB layout. Specifically, Altium Designer.
- Able to operate a variety of Lab Bench test equipment (Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyser, etc.).
- Coding experience with Embedded C and Embedded Linux (Yocto or similar).
- Familiar with Microchip MPLAB development environment.
- Ability to research components and read component data sheets.
- Good documentation skills to generate production documentation, test reports, and generate product user manuals.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Able to recognize the importance and impact of issues and take appropriate actions.
- Able to self‑manage tasks and responsibilities.
- Ability to take a project from start to finish.
- Must be eligible to obtain Controlled Goods Program (CGP) authorization.
