This role is an embedded development and systems support position based in Ottawa, ON, onsite.

• Develop features and fix bugs in embedded software; troubleshoot system-level customer issues involving Linux, SONiC, Docker containers, networking behavior, and platform integration.
• Build and maintain AI agents for troubleshooting and coding that analyze customer logs, embedded traces, telemetry, and crash data.
• Convert repeated customer issues into reusable AI workflows, log-reading rules, diagnostic tools, and support playbooks.
• Collaborate with software development, QA, systems engineering, Dev Ops, field teams, and support teams to reproduce issues, validate fixes, and improve support readiness.

• Software engineer to build the next generation of customer issue resolution for embedded optical systems.
• Role combines AI agent development with embedded software support.
• Resolve complex customer issues directly while building AI-assisted workflows that read logs, retrieve prior knowledge, recommend troubleshooting steps, and improve root-cause analysis across the support team.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience analyzing customer logs, Linux logs, SONiC logs, Docker container logs, traces, telemetry, crash dumps, and system behavior to identify causes and next debug steps.
• Experience reading, debugging, and modifying code in embedded system environments.
• Experience with Linux-based systems, SONiC or network operating systems, Docker containers, services, system logs, networking tools, and issue reproduction environments.
• Experience creating AI diagnostic tools, support playbooks, automated triage workflows, or automated root-cause analysis systems.
• Asset/Nice to Have:
  Python scripting for automation, log parsing, data processing, or AI tool development.
• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation, semantic search, vector databases, Lang Chain, tool calling, or AI agent evaluation.
• Experience connecting AI workflows to support cases, knowledge bases, Git Hub repositories, CI/CD systems, lab infrastructure, or customer support platforms.
• Experience with C, C++, Rust, and Go for systems programming, tooling, automation, services, or infrastructure development.
• Experience with optical communication systems, telecom equipment, data center infrastructure, transceivers, routing/switching, or platform bring-up.
• Familiarity with Cloud technologies AWS/GCP for AI agent deployments.

The salary range for this position is $110,625 - $149,675 CAD (Flexible). Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications. Competitive total rewards may include annual bonus, equity, and comprehensive health and welfare benefits.
