Dev Ops Embedded Pipeline Engineer

The Embedded Build & Pipeline (EEB&P) team at Ford builds and maintains shared tooling, automation, and CI/CD workflows that power ECU software delivery across Ford. The team seeks specialists for two complementary roles:
Build Engineers, who own the inner loop, and Pipelines Engineers, who own the outer loop. In either role the engineer partners with product teams to apply modern Dev Ops and SRE practices so developers can build, test, and release ECU software reliably at scale.

• Have deep experience with compilers, linkers, and build systems (e.g., Bazel, CMake, Make, Gradle).
• Enjoy solving dependency management, incremental builds, and build performance challenges.
• Have supported developers with local build tooling, reproducible builds, and artifact/version management.
• Can reason about complex C/C++/embedded code and its build impact.

• Have strong experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, Git Lab CI, Azure Dev Ops).
• Enjoy orchestrating build, test, quality, and deployment workflows across teams.
• Have worked with infrastructure-as-code, secrets management, and security/quality gates.
• Understand environment promotion, blue/green or canary deployments, and pipeline observability.

• Build and improve automation that enables teams to build, test, and deploy code efficiently.
• Shape developer workflows from commit through CI/CD to production.
• Ensure build and deployment systems meet reliability, availability, and traceability needs.
• Drive adoption of common platforms for observability, testing, and automation.
• Leverage cloud and on‑prem technologies for fast, reliable provisioning of build/test environments.
• Maintain clear documentation and collaborate with peers to foster continuous improvement.
• Work on a hybrid schedule — 4 days per week in the office (Monday to Thursday).

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in software engineering, build/automation, Dev Ops, or tooling roles.
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Tekton, or Git Hub Actions.

• Exposure to agile or XP practices (pair programming, TDD) or willingness to adopt them.
• Modern Dev Ops and configuration management (source control, branching, CI/CD, code review).
• Proficiency building tools in Python plus one scripting language (e.g., Bash, Ruby).
• Experience with C/C++, Java, or Go codebases.
• Proficiency with Linux/Unix;
  Windows familiarity a plus.
• Understanding of object‑oriented design and programming principles.
• Exposure to cloud or virtualized infrastructure.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences.

• Container and cloud technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Azure, GKE, GCP).
• GNU Make and other build tools common in C/C++ or embedded environments.
• Familiarity with build systems such as Maven, Gradle, Bazel, Ant, Buck, CMake, Ninja, or Autotools.
