JOB SUMMARY
You are responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons using City beaches and facilities. You monitor the conduct of patrons, prevent accidents and respond to emergencies by administering the policies, procedures, rules and regulations of the City of Ottawa and of certifying bodies to ensure the safety and enjoyment of patrons in an aquatic environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Student - Grade 10 minimum
No related experience is required
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES
Current Standard First Aid, CPR-C and AED certificatesAODA Accessibility/IASR Training Current National Lifeguard Pool certificate
Current Oxygen Therapy or LSS Airway Management certificate
Current National Lifeguard Waterfront certificate preferred
Pleasure Craft Operator Card is an asset
Current Lifesaving Instructor certificate is an asset

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check (Level
3) with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.
