Aircraft Maintenance Engineer; AME Apprentice Algonquin College Summer Placement; YOW
Job Summary
This Co-op opportunity is provided to current students of the Algonquin Aircraft Maintenance Technician program. Students must currently be enrolled and returning to studies in Fall 2026 in order to be considered. Reporting to the Manager, Line Maintenance in Ottawa YOW, the AME Apprentice Co-op will work in support of Porter’s Q400 and Embraer E2195 fleet in a line maintenance environment.
Duties & Responsibilities- Troubleshoot aircraft structural, mechanical or hydraulic systems to identify problems and adjust and repair systems according to specifications, technical drawings, manuals and established procedures
- Repair and overhaul aircraft structural, mechanical or hydraulic systems
- Install or modify aircraft engines, mechanical, hydraulic, flight control, fuel and pneumatic systems
- Dismantle airframes, aircraft engines or other aircraft systems for repair, cleaning, and reassemble
- Perform and document scheduled and unscheduled maintenance under the guidance of a Lead ACA, ACA or AME
- Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy
- Assist on the ramp as required

- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Must be working towards accreditation from Transport Canada
- Must have a valid Class G2 or G driver's license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Ability to obtain a Canadian Passport
- Able to obtain a Transport Canada Airport Restricted Area Pass
- Dependability (must have a clear attendance record and reliable on-time reporting)
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
- Ability to communicate and correspond clearly and precisely in English
- Must be available to work 12 hour rotating shifts including days, overnights, weekends, and holidays - This is a 24/7 operation
- Successfully complete the company screening process
