Position Overview

The Global Logistics Manager oversees the supply chain logistics team, ensuring efficient distribution and transportation of radioactive materials while managing budgets, optimizing processes and coaching and mentoring logistics team. This role will work with supply chain, quality, operations and project teams to manage all logistics for BWXT Medical.

Your Day to Day as a Global Logistics Manager
  • Define, develop, and deploy the company’s logistics strategy to support business growth, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage, evaluate, and negotiate carrier costs/rates and maintain the list of approved transportation vendors, ensuring optimal performance and cost-effectiveness in delivering customer orders.
  • Collaborate with freight forwarders and customs organizations to identify the most time-efficient and cost-efficient global transportation solutions.
  • Lead and manage complex logistics projects, focusing on system enhancements, process optimization, and operational scalability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging process analysis to establish and maintain an effective, efficient, and agile transportation network.
  • Manage relationships with freight service providers and customs agents, ensuring strong communication, accountability, and service-level performance.
  • Track logistics incidents and develop trend analyses, working cross-functionally with Supply Chain and internal teams to address root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Guide, mentor, and train the logistics team to strengthen technical capabilities and ensure high-quality operational execution.
  • Develop and manage KPIs with carriers and logistics partners, ensuring service levels, transit times, and performance targets are consistently met.
  • Implement robust processes, controls, and compliance practices to ensure 100% adherence to all relevant regulations, trade guidelines, and internal procedures.
  • Analyze delays and operational bottlenecks, identify root causes, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on corrective actions, and monitor the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
Required Qualifications
  • College diploma or university degree in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field; formal logistics training is an asset or combination of experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in transportation, logistics, or a related supply chain function with dangerous goods including demonstrated leadership responsibility.
  • Strong technical knowledge of multiple transportation modes, including courier, air freight, LTL/FTL trucking, and international freight.
  • Solid understanding of international trade and customs regulations, including INCOTERMS, import/export compliance, and cargo insurance requirements.
  • Proven communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and work effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated skills with Canadian and international customs for both inbound and outbound logistics.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a strong process‑oriented mindset and the capability to identify trends, root causes, and continuous improvement opportunities.
