Position Summary
The incumbent reports to the Area Supervisor and is responsible for maintaining contracted assets, including roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, vegetation, etc., per contract standards and conditions. Hourly pay: $27.00. The role includes winter and summer maintenance responsibilities and may require traffic control setup, emergency response, and additional duties as assigned.
Responsibilities- Winter season: remove snow and ice using snow removal and/or sanding equipment.
- Summer season: maintain and repair highway and other surfaces including signs, guardrails, fences, lighting, potholes, striping, reflectors, litter and debris removal.
- Operate vehicles and equipment for surface and right‑of‑way maintenance and repair, including slopes, berms, culverts, drains, and vegetation control.
- Set up and remove traffic control as required.
- Transport crew and equipment to work sites.
- Participate in emergency response rotations, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Create, modify, and sign off on traffic control plans per Book
7. - Deliver and complete daily Toolbox Talks, Job Starts, and Job Hazard Analyses.
- Supervise, inspect, and report daily work completed by operators.
- Verify work completion and submit accurate timesheets daily.
- Report incidents and equipment or facility damage to supervisor.
- Positively contribute to a diverse, inclusive, and fair work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid G Class license with an excellent driving record.
- Minimum of 3years related experience in construction, road maintenance, commercial/industrial repair, landscaping, or related outdoor work (preferred).
- MTO experience highly preferred.
- High level of computer skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Successful completion of training in traffic control methods, first aid, transportation of dangerous goods, WHMIS, and occupational health.
- Effective communication in English, both orally and in writing.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Strong safety awareness and ability to recognize hazards.
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
Must be able to focus on safety while using tools and equipment, driving, or operating equipment. Will be required to wear PPE appropriate to the job and lead by example to ensure PPE compliance. Must comply with safety rules and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
