As a Dispatcher, you will be responsible for coordinating driver schedules, managing dispatch operations, and ensuring routes run smoothly and safely. You will play a key role in communicating with drivers, responding to operational changes, and ensuring all transportation services are delivered efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
- Pay Rate: $22-$23/hr
- Location: Carp, ON
- Schedule: Split shift aligned with school transportation hours (approximately 6:30 AM - 10:30 AM and 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM)
- Contract: Permanent | Full-time

- Ensure dispatch and driver operations are conducted in accordance with established standards.
- Arrange routes and allocate driver resources to ensure contracted routes are covered during driver illness or holidays.
- Handle customer service calls, recurring ride requests, and special event coordination.
- Complete incident reporting as required.
- Dispatch drivers to various routes on a timely basis.
- Alert drivers to road closures, delays, or other operational issues.
- Monitor all active runs and drivers to ensure routes remain on schedule and students are transported safely.
- Manage and generate various reports as directed by the General Manager.
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating vehicle maintenance as required.
- Answer phones and manage fax and email correspondence in a professional and courteous manner.
- Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada
- Previous dispatch experience within the transportation or service industry or related education.
- Ability to utilize a two-way radio to communicate effectively with drivers on route.
- Strong ability to multitask and prioritize several urgent tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to follow established procedures and operational guidelines to meet corporate and legal obligations.
- Strong customer service experience.
- Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
- General understanding of the transportation industry.
- Valid Ontario G driver's license.
- Ability to provide a clean driver's abstract.
- Ability to provide a clean criminal record check.
- Strong geographic knowledge of the City of Ottawa and surrounding areas, with familiarity with local schools considered an asset.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English.
