SIMULATION CLINICIAN – Ottawa

Director & Assistant Director of Nursing.
Works with the Site Coordinator and the Learning Lab Coordinator.

- Provide premiere quality service to all constituencies of the College.
- Engage in continuous quality improvement and professional development.
- Participate in the development of simulation laboratory experiences as the technical advisor.
- Coordinate scheduling of the simulation and skills labs.
- Implement simulation scenarios with cooperation of the lab coordinator, course coordinator, and content experts to achieve the student learning objectives.
- Prepare simulation lab for student learning activities.
- Direct, guide, and observe student’s performance in the simulation setting.
- Maintain simulation equipment.
- Maintain student records pertaining to the simulation experience.
- Facilitate student‑led feedback sessions following the simulation experience.
- Collaborate with the lab coordinator and course coordinators regarding the simulation experience in each nursing course.
- Participate in research for current best practices for simulation experiences.
- Submit recommendations related to budget and purchases for the nursing simulation laboratory.
- Perform all other functions necessary for the proper operation of the nursing simulation lab.
- Participate actively in professional organizations, attend seminars, conferences, and workshops.
- Serve as ex‑officio member of the Nursing Faculty Committee.
- Serve as ex‑officio member of the Health Care Advisory Committee.
- Instructor in bi‑level nursing program.
- Participate in the organization and implementation of simulation within the nursing program.
- Responsible for implementation of simulation laboratory experiences with the cooperation of other faculty.
- Assist in implementing the course of study by facilitating student learning experiences in the simulation lab environment.
- Act as role model to the students.
- Category of classification: HBV‑HIV Risk I.
- Administratively responsible to the Director or Assistant Director of the bi‑level nursing program depending on campus location; in the absence of the director or assistant director, administratively responsible to the Vice‑President of Student Learning.
- Responsible to the Nursing Course Coordinator in matters concerning course curriculum.
- Works directly with the site lab coordinator.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with other faculty in all aspects of the nursing program.
- Participate in the activities of the total college faculty.
- Develop and maintain constructive interaction with other faculty and personnel of the college, cooperating agencies, and community groups.
Skills and Abilities
- Hold a Master’s Degree in Nursing.
- Commit to continuing education to further implementation of the simulation lab.
- Have at least two years of recent nursing experience in a hospital or similar health care facility.
- Preferred experience in nursing education.
- Be computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Have strong organization and communication skills.
- Be licensed to practice professional nursing (RN) in Kansas.
- Must file a Faculty Qualification Report with the Kansas State Board of Nursing.
- Actively participate in professional nursing and educational organizations.
- Meet minimum requirements for continuing education as required by the Kansas State Board of Nursing for license renewal.
