Responsible for measuring, threading adjusting flange fit, and facing the flange on a piece of pipe. Work includes operation of the machine and a crane to move pipe in and out of the machine.

• Identify fabrication requirements on each piece of pipe (5%).
• Place pipe in machine, center the pipe, and tighten for work. After the pipe is in place, the operator machines tapered threads into the pipe, verifying measurements such as thread depth and correct taper (30%).
• After the threads are cut the operator tests the flange to ensure it screws onto the pipe properly. Adjustments are made to the threads if an issue occurs (10%).
• Apply glue to the pipe and flange and use the machine to tighten the flange onto the pipe (20%).
• Run the cutting tool across the surface of the face of the flange to flush fit the flange onto the pipe (30%).
• Remove pipe from machine and place it on boards (5%).

• Good with math, able to read a tape measure and micrometer.
• Ability to understand machinery processes.
• Consistent attendance, ability to get to work on time, every day.

• High school diploma or equivalent desired.
• Previous experience with machinery is desired.

  • This is a heavy industrial environment with exposure to Fabrication Shop operations. Employees may be exposed to extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils, and atmospheric conditions such as dust and fumes.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • From time to time, employees will perform standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, driving, and sitting.
  • When in the Shop Production Area, employees will wear PPE including steel-toed shoes (if conducting any work-related activity), safety glasses, and hearing protection where required.
