Position Overview

The Assistant Coordinator, under the direction of the RSVP Coordinator, is responsible for the administration of the RSVP program across Anderson and Franklin counties. The role initiates, implements, and maintains the program in the northern region, selects, trains, and supervises volunteers, and works cooperatively with sponsor staff, the Community Advisory Group, volunteer stations, and state RSVP administrators.

Responsibilities
  • Initiate, implement, and maintain the RSVP program in the northern region.
  • Provide administrative oversight: select, train, supervise volunteers; monitor staff performance; maintain work schedules; assist in developing policies and generating required reports.
  • Develop financial resources by preparing proposals for county and town grants; coordinate fundraising efforts under RSVP Coordinator supervision.
  • Monitor in‑kind support, review financial statements, and prepare annual budgets.
  • Maintain program quality and plan annual goals in collaboration with RSVP Coordinator, ensuring community needs are met and elders retain self‑esteem through service.
  • Support volunteer coordinators with direction, leadership, information, and consultation for volunteer activities.
  • Mediates and resolves concerns or conflicts within the program.
  • Develop public relations and communications: provide informational programs, prepare newsletters, serve on community boards, councils, committees, and host volunteer recognition events.
  • Maintain professional knowledge by attending workshops, trainings, conferences, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Collaborate with RSVP Community Advisory Group to solicit advice and assistance.
  • Perform other RSVP project‑related duties as assigned.
  • Represent Neosho County Community College positively in public and at staff meetings.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Acceptable driving record.
  • Working knowledge of general office equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with volunteers, officials, and the public.
  • Strong leadership ability and ability to empower others.
  • Good professional judgment, confidentiality, and integrity.
  • Professionalism and appearance at all times.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred;
    Associate’s Degree with 3‑5 years of grant experience accepted.
  • Management skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Training/experience working with the over‑55 population and/or volunteers desirable.
  • Grant writing skills highly beneficial.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily office environment.
  • Field assignments: driving a vehicle, walking, visiting volunteers and stations.
  • Stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision requirements: close vision, color vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
