The Reading Instructor performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject areas.

Position directly supervises students.

Monday - Thursday 7:00am-5:30pm

• Help students achieve improved standardized testing scores in math
• Establish a high degree of student/instructor rapport and creates a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to promote student motivation
• Maintain a high degree of accountability within the classroom setting in order to allow for maximum learning
• Document student attendance, performance, progress, and behavior in a timely manner and within program guidelines
• Deliver instruction using provided curriculum resources or new/updated curriculum
• Integrate applied academic activities into classroom curriculum
• Maintain adequate classroom cleanliness and preparation
• Effectively relate to the student population and recognize student success in the classroom
• Adhere to all data integrity measures related to classroom instruction and testing
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree. Certified to teach in the state of Iowa.

Preferred: One year in a teaching capacity with disadvantaged youth.

Knowledge of required subject area, excellent communication skills, both oral and written, excellent organizational skills, must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification, ability to effectively relate to student population.
