Host Home Provider - Southeast Iowa Region

Are you passionate about helping others and making a difference in your community? Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) is looking for Host Home Providers in the Southeast Iowa region. You can change the world by hosting an adult with disabilities in your home. Supported disabilities may include intellectual, physical, mental health, and brain injuries.

Responsibilities

The Host Home Provider will provide guidance, support, and care for the individual living in your home. You will work with the mentee on goals such as shopping, budgeting, coping skills, cooking meals, personal hygiene, and assisting them to integrate into their community. You will serve as an advocate and mentor, helping them live their best possible life.

As an independent contractor, you will work with LSI to match providers and mentees, receive training, and ensure a home safety check before a match is made. The role is contracted and provides compensation of approximately $70,000 per year.

Locations include towns from Marshalltown to Keokuk, Washington to Centerville, and surrounding areas. The Southeast Region includes the counties of Marshall, Tama, Mahaska, Marion, Poweshiek, Benton, Jasper, Iowa, Keokuk, Washington, Louisa, Monroe, Wapello, Jefferson, Henry, Des Moines, Appanoose, Davis, Van Buren, and Lee.

Requirements
  • You must be 21 or older
  • You must reside in Iowa
  • You must have a high school diploma or GED
  • You must have a current, valid driver's license
  • You must meet minimum insurance requirements (auto, commercial general liability, and a decent driving record)
  • You must have access to a computer and internet to complete documentation requirements
  • You must successfully complete all steps of the extensive screening, interview, and matching process before an individual can begin receiving support in your home
  • You must have flexibility and creativity
  • You must have a passion for making a difference in the world

Additional background checks are required, including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry, criminal history, reference checks, and a home safety check. Background checks are also required of all people who reside in the home and are over the age of 18.
