Job SummaryThis project location is TBD and will require mobilizing to the site. Project planning will take place at BV world headquarters in Overland Park, KS. Union or Union management experience is strongly preferred. Conventional power experience as an electrical superintendent is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities include interfacing with and monitoring direct hire supervision and/or major subcontractor supervision and field engineering. Ensure project requirements and expectations are met with regard to craft and supervisory performance, direct hire craft productivity, and reporting on subcontractors’ performance. Ensure adherence by all discipline craft and subcontractors to safety, quality, schedule and performance expectations as defined by Black and Veatch. Provide craft supervisors with information and technical direction required to complete project safely, timely and in a quality manner.
Ensure schedule and project expectations are clearly defined to craft supervisors and subcontractors. Ensure schedule requirements are communicated to all levels of craft discipline and/or supervision. Coordinate interpretation of technical requirements. Provide technical data and information to direct hire workforce, subcontractor supervision or Construction Engineers. Ensure compliance by workforce or subcontractor to all standards, procedures and contractual commitments within the bounds of all applicable policies.
Union Projects: Responsible for ensuring that daily project execution is in line with Black & Veatch National Maintenance and Project Labor Union Agreements. Understand all Local Union agreements for the project. Establish a working relationship with the Local Union Business Agent (BA) and the Local Union Site Job Steward. Ensure uninterrupted workflow at union interface points. May stand in for the construction manager during absence from site if requested.
May comprehend the overall project schedule with regard to other disciplines or subcontractor requirements. May have responsibility for safety and quality requirements on site if required. May mentor and train other discipline superintendents. Could be designated as Lead Discipline Superintendent for assigned duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Partners with the Construction Manager to ensure complete adherence by all site supervision and craft to Black & Veatch Safety, Quality, Ethical Standards, Lessons Learned and Performance Management programs. Report inappropriate conduct by site personnel to the site Construction Manager and project Safety Manager.
- Monitor, verify and report on construction activities for CPM schedule compliance; track and report on completion of project schedule activities and commodity installation.
- Collaborate with craft/subcontractors/superintendents to resolve issues related to drawings, information, schedule, quality, quantity tracking, cost reporting and safety.
- Monitor discipline construction productivity, progress, and cost; report to Construction Manager and Field Project Controls Manager; take actions to maintain targets.
- Ensure adherence to Black & Veatch standards and lessons learned.
- Communicate issues and project lessons learned for potential future implementation.
- Conduct foreman/subcontractor meetings to review/assist in daily, weekly, and monthly planning.
- Develop and monitor 3 Week Look Ahead Schedule for assigned work scope.
