The Social Emotional Resource Teacher provides services to students with exceptional needs, including those who are emotionally disturbed or showing characteristics thereof. Responsibilities include implementing district curriculum to maximize learning, instructing students with diverse needs, forming relationships with students and families, and differentiating instruction accordingly. The teacher supervises and evaluates students within their assignment.

• Develops and implements long-term and daily lesson plans aligned with district objectives.
• Plans for individual and small group needs, incorporating curriculum revisions and new programs.
• Organizes classroom for effective instruction, maintains student records, and monitors student scheduling and IEPs.
• Holds IEP meetings and parent conferences; completes reports following guidelines.
• Creates a conducive learning environment, maintains classroom control, and promotes positive behavior.
• Collaborates with parents, counselors, nurses, and administrators to support student needs.
• Addresses behavior problems and develops strategies for remediation.
• Demonstrates professional judgment, maintains positive interactions, and seeks ongoing professional growth.

• Valid Kansas Teaching Licensure with Special Education Certification or enrollment in a certification program.

• Ability to interpret documents, write reports, and communicate effectively with diverse audiences. Bilingual skills are valued.
