Position Summary

The AAC Tutor Coordinator supports student academic success by managing the daily operations of the tutoring programs in the Academic Achievement Center (AAC). This position oversees tutor hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management while also serving as a liaison between the AAC and academic departments. The coordinator provides direct and indirect support to students and assists with program development and outreach.

In the absence of the Director, this position helps guide center operations and supports broader academic resource initiatives.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in education, tutoring, or academic support services
  • Experience coordinating and leading team activities
  • Experience interacting successfully with students, faculty, and staff

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and educational technologies
Position Details

Job Duties
  • Hire, onboard, train, and supervise the Tutor I, II, and III employees through regular group and individual training sessions, observations, and performance appraisals. Review and approve payroll, address disciplinary issues as they arise, and adjust staffing levels as needed.
  • Manage the daily operations of the tutoring program, including identifying and shifting tutoring needs based on student/faculty requests. Manage semester-long tutoring assignments, maintain appropriate drop‑in and/or by‑appointment tutoring coverage, communicate tutor availability with instructors, create and manage tutoring records, and conduct regular evaluations of the tutors and tutoring program.
  • Serve as a liaison between AAC and academic departments. Customize tutoring needs per discipline, and represent the AAC, and ARC at campus‑wide events.
  • Support students in achieving educational goals through one‑time and/or continued academic coaching sessions and assist with the Academic Alert process as needed. Refer students to appropriate campus and community resources, work with tutors to manage challenging and contentious student situations, and address student and parent concerns (when authorized) in a confidential and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with center staff and other departments in the creation and implementation of projects, including developing and maintaining paper handouts/brochures and electronic website center resources. Deliver content‑specific workshops on topics such as Smart Starts or time‑management techniques. Create online learning materials (e.g., LMS learning modules) and contribute to ARC and campus‑wide events.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records, adhere to FERPA, and keep faculty/staff updated on student progress and problems.
  • Promote and market the AAC tutoring program effectively through written, online, and in‑person content.
