A school district in Gardner, KS is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support an elementary student on a 1:1 basis for the school year. This contract position operates during the school year (CSY) and offers flexible scheduling options to accommodate candidates interested in working either 3 or 5 days per week.
Location: Gardner, KS
School Level: Elementary
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM; some Wednesdays have early release at 2:00 PM
Flexibility: Onsite support preferred; if virtual, interpreting sessions will take place on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
Job Duration: Contract for the full school year (CSY)
Key Responsibilities- Provide skilled sign language interpretation services for an elementary student during classroom instruction and other school activities
- Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, and peers to support academic success and social interaction
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to district policies and ethical standards for interpreting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpreting skills
- Experience working with children in elementary educational settings preferred
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with educators and school staff
- Flexibility to accommodate onsite and virtual interpreting assignments
- Competitive hourly pay rate ranging from $28 to $40 per hour
