Position Summary
This faculty position in the Information Technology department is within the Computing Sciences and Information Technology Division. The Faculty member is expected to possess expert level knowledge in the IT discipline. The Faculty member will carry teaching load in a variety of IT areas including networking, systems administration, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. The faculty member is expected to demonstrate competence in mastery of subject matter, professional development, teaching performance, evaluation of student learning, participation in college/division/program activities, support college policies and procedures, and contribution to the growth and enhancement of college mission and programs.
This position demands a positive team player, with leadership and project management skills. For certifications listed on your resume, provide verification information (certificates, transcripts, etc.). This position is on‑site in Overland Park, Kansas and starts Fall 2026.

- Bachelor’s degree in related field, or a combination of degree, industry‑related training, and industry experience.
- Preferred curriculum development experience.
- Minimum one year of Information Technology related teaching experience at the post‑secondary level.
- Previous IT industry work experience.
- Demonstrated positive teamwork experience with evidence of workload contributions.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
- Self‑motivated to accomplish tasks within given timeline.
- Expert level knowledge in some of the following areas:
Cisco (CCNA), Microsoft Azure, Linux (LPIC‑1), Cybersecurity (Security+, Pen Test+), Cloud Computing, Operating Systems (CompTIA A+). - Required active status minimum of at least one of the following industry certifications or higher – CCNA, LPIC‑1, A+, Security+, Azure, others considered.
- Expected to obtain and keep active status in certifications related to assigned courses.
- Preferred teaching experience with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas).
- Preferred three years of IT teaching/training experience.
- Preferred Cisco Certified Academy Instructor (CCAI).
- Teach undergraduate courses in networking, systems administration, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
- Demonstrate deep subject knowledge, including key concepts, current and relevant research, methodologies, tools and techniques, and meaningful applications.
- Commit to professional development by keeping current in the discipline.
- Maintain faculty credentials required by accrediting agencies.
- Plan, develop, and deliver instruction that enhances student learning.
- Create assignments that promote communication skills and higher‑order thinking.
- Use instructional technology appropriately.
- Engage students with proven methods of engagement and assessment to facilitate mastery.
- Provide constructive feedback and evaluate student progress.
- Modify instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.
- Communicate clearly on subject matter and expectations.
- Document course materials and meet deadlines for syllabus release.
- Maintain accurate student records, provide grades timely, and respect confidentiality.
- Respond promptly to student grade questions and appeals.
- Fulfill all requirements as stated in college policies, including mandatory training.
- Attend and participate in required meetings and steward use of facilities and materials.
- Submit requested information to administrators or peers promptly.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and stakeholders to create, preserve, and enhance partnerships.
