Position Summary: Life and Leisure (L&L) provides high-quality continuing education opportunities for individuals interested in exploring and expanding their artistic skills. Courses may include acrylic painting, drawing, photography, camera basics, iPhone photography, polymer clay crafting, and a variety of other visual arts topics. We are seeking qualified instructors to develop and teach engaging art classes across a range of disciplines. Classes are offered in a continuing education classroom setting during morning, afternoon, and evening hours throughout the week, as well as on Saturdays.
Art instructors are encouraged to develop courses that draw upon their professional expertise, work experience, creative practice, or areas of significant personal interest. Through a diverse selection of topics, instructors help students enrich their personal lives, cultivate new skills, and explore their creativity. Instructors are expected to provide well-prepared, research-based course materials and deliver high-quality instruction that supports student learning and engagement.
- Subject matter expertise in at least one visual art or creative discipline.
- Strong communication and instructional skills.
- Ability to develop engaging curriculum and teaching materials.
- Classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Excellent organization, professionalism, and reliability.
- Adult education or teaching experience.
- Professional artistic or creative industry experience.
- Experience with a variety of art mediums and techniques.
- Ability to attract and retain students through engaging instruction and course design
- Experience with PowerPoint, Canvas, and Zoom.
