This position is focused on the design of structures which support Water purification and treatment facilities, making water supplies more resilient and sustainable. This engineer will design a variety of structural systems, broaden their design experience, and collaborate with other disciplines, while delivering critical water infrastructure projects to the community. - Execute complex structural analysis, perform calculations, and prepare sketches and drawings for the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, industrial facilities, and other complex structural facilities.
- Supervise Structural Engineers (both in the US and overseas) and work with Structural Technicians in preparation of structural drawings and specifications. Lead medium‑sized production teams and serve as the responsible charge for projects.
- Perform construction phase engineering duties such as site visits, responding to RFIs, and review of contractor submittals.
- Perform project administrative tasks, including preparation of design fee estimates, monitoring progress against budget and schedule, management of project changes, and implementation of Black & Veatch Quality Control requirements.
- Coordinate work with architects and other discipline engineers. Understand client interests and drivers and develop solutions to balance interests of all stakeholders.
- Lead a team to execute complex projects with construction values of up to $100M.
- Provide guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies. Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating engineering standards. Provide technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines.
- Support continuous improvement efforts. Provide guidance and direction to others.
- Implement resource management strategy, including managing resources for a small group.
- Master of Engineering or Master of Science from an ABET accredited Structural Engineering program.
- Familiarity with the latest editions of the International Building Code, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 530.
- Proficiency with structural analysis software such as RISA 3D, STAADPro, or SAP 2000.
