Join to apply for the UI Engineer role at TENEX.AI

Company Overview TENEX is an AI-native, automation-first, built-for-scale Managed Detection and Response (MDR) provider. We are a force multiplier for defenders, helping organizations enhance their cybersecurity posture through advanced threat detection, rapid response, and continuous protection. Our team is composed of industry experts with deep experience in cybersecurity, automation, and AI-driven solutions. Backed by leading investors, we are rapidly growing and seeking top talent to join our mission of revolutionizing the MDR landscape.

As a UI Engineer at TENEX, you will help build a product experience that is fast, intuitive, and trustworthy—because security, clarity and speed are everything.

You’ll work closely with the Principal UI Engineer, Backend/Platform Engineering, and Analysts to deliver polished workflows for security practitioners. This role is ideal for a high-ownership engineer who treats product development as an iterative process of refining the live application. You will go beyond implementing artifacts to ensure the user experience feels intentional and coherent, not just functional.

This role will be hybrid in one of our 3 locations:
San Jose, CA;
Overland Park, KS; or Sarasota, FL.

Job Responsibilities
  • Partner closely with AI and backend engineers to take rough-out features and refine them into a polished, cohesive product experience, setting the design and engineering constraints that ensure a high-velocity, AI-assisted workflow succeeds.
  • Develop and maintain reusable UI components and patterns (layout, navigation, tables, filters, forms, modals, etc.) using Tailwind CSS.
  • Use Tan Stack Query to implement robust server-state patterns (caching, pagination, background refresh, optimistic updates, error handling).
  • Partner with backend engineers to define API contracts that enable clean, scalable frontend implementation.
  • Improve frontend architecture and team practices (component conventions, state patterns, code review standards, performance budgets).
  • Ensure UIs are accessible (keyboard navigation, semantic HTML, ARIA where appropriate) and resilient across browsers.
  • Write and maintain tests for critical UX flows.
  • Help drive a strong product “feel” grounded in our brand through thoughtful micro-interactions, loading states, empty states, and error states.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years professional experience building modern web UIs.
  • Strong proficiency with React and Type Script.
  • Hands‑on experience with Next.js (routing, data loading patterns, performance considerations).
  • Strong CSS fundamentals and experience building production UIs with a utility‑first approach (ideally Tailwind CSS).
  • Experience integrating with APIs and building data‑heavy UI flows (lists, detail views, filtering, sorting, pagination, etc.).
  • High bar for UI correctness: visual polish, edge cases, loading/error states, responsive design.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills—especially working day‑to‑day with design and product.
Desired (nice‑to‑haves)
  • Deep experience with Tan Stack Query (cache invalidation strategies, mutations, optimistic updates, infinite queries).
  • Experience building design systems or component libraries (Storybook or similar).
  • Performance experience: profiling, bundle size reduction, virtualization for large lists, avoiding re‑render traps.
  • Experience with real‑time or near‑real‑time UIs (websockets, polling strategies, streaming updates).
  • Familiarity with auth patterns (RBAC, permissions‑based UI, session handling) and secure UI practices.
  • Experience building complex tables and data exploration experiences (Tan Stack Table, AG Grid, etc.).
  • Prior work in cybersecurity / observability / Dev Tools / enterprise SaaS (not required).
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, HCI, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • A strong portfolio of shipped work (or ability to walk through real product contributions) is highly valued.
Why Join Us?
  • Opportunity to work with cutting‑edge AI‑driven cybersecurity technologies and Google Sec Ops solutions.
  • Collaborate with a talented and innovative team focused on continuously improving security operations.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • A culture of growth and development, with opportunities to expand your knowledge in AI, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
