Job SummaryThe Work Control Specialist is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of maintenance activities within the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) division. This role ensures effective utilization of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to optimize maintenance scheduling, resource allocation, and work order execution. As a key contributor on a planning and scheduling team, the Work Control Specialist collaborates with cross‑functional stakeholders to improve processes that enhance maintenance operations and asset reliability across diverse business lines.

Black & Veatch’s Infrastructure Advisory Business provides a portfolio of solutions focused on the asset lifecycle, including Asset Management & Operations & Maintenance, Infrastructure Technology, Cybersecurity Solutions, Planning and Transactions. In this role you will be part of the Delivery Team supporting Solutions including Condition Assessment, Maintenance Management, and Strategic Asset Management.
Key Responsibilities- Support the implementation and optimization of the CMMS, ensuring accurate tracking of work orders, maintenance schedules, and asset performance.
- Collaborate with site O&M teams, asset owners, internal and external stakeholders to identify, diagnose, and resolve operational and maintenance issues.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Assist in developing and refining processes and workflows to enhance maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution.
- Analyze maintenance data and performance metrics to support improvements in asset reliability and reduce downtime.
- Contribute to operations across various industrial settings including Battery Storage, Solar, Wind, Simple Cycle Thermal Generation, Substation, water, and Combined Cycle Thermal Generation facilities.
- Establish and manage an inventory control system within CMMS.
- Coordinate with the supply chain team to ensure availability of spare parts and resources for planned and corrective maintenance.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance efficiency and system reliability.
- Provide support to the Operation Center as needed.
- Support the creation of reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
- Diploma or Certificate preferred.
- 5–10 years of experience in Operations & Maintenance or a related industry.
- Experience in maintenance planning and scheduling.
- 3 plus years of experience with CMMS platforms (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, eMaint, Zinier, or similar).
- Strong understanding of maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution.
- Familiarity with NERC responsibilities and industry regulations.
- Basic understanding of construction and constructability practices.
- Knowledge of power plant systems, asset management, and industry trends.
