The Opportunity

Black & Veatch is seeking an exceptional professional to join our Infrastructure Advisory organization as a Manager – Consulting to provide expertise around Gas Operational Technology (OT) & Industrial Control System (ICS) implementation and related OT projects.

The Team

Our Delivery Team is a diverse group of early‑to‑mid‑career professionals with a solid foundation of experience. You will work with OT Solutions and Digital Delivery experts in strategy, data, technology, and asset management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage client engagement for complex, transformational programs in oil & gas pipeline transmission & distribution and related industrial technologies.
• Develop business and technical strategy, business case, and implementation plan for Oil & Gas OT /ICS implementation.
• Lead client interviews and facilitate engagement among stakeholders to understand OT /ICS functions, architecture, and infrastructure.
• Document and discover current and future state business processes.
• Provide functional and technical expertise in Digital Grid, OT, and Oil & Gas OT /ICS.
• Develop solution concepts, review vendor design documents, and trace requirements.
• Define business requirements and develop technical specifications.
• Support RFI / RFP response analysis, vendor selection, statement of work development, and contract negotiation.
• Develop project plans, key milestones, and project control structure.
• Lead and/or participate in system testing.
• Transfer knowledge and build capability for peers and junior resources.
• Communicate effectively and negotiate complex problem resolutions.
• Advocate change, resolve unforeseen challenges, and balance scope, schedule, resources, and quality.
• Manage meetings with defined agendas and action items tracking.
• Produce professional‑quality work products using Black & Veatch delivery templates and processes.
• Contribute to business development as a subject matter expert.
• Create and collaborate on thought leadership publications in Digital Grid, Oil & Gas OT /ICS.

Management Responsibilities

Individual Contributor

Preferred Qualifications >

Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer engineering, information systems, or other relevant technical domain.

8+ years of experience in business and technology consulting, product management, or project implementation services.

Extensive knowledge of pipeline transmission & distribution technologies and operations.

Participation in OT/ICS upgrades or replacements with technical domain experience.

Hands‑on Instrument & Control experience and OT/ICS communication protocols.

OT architecture design and system integration with Enterprise IT.

Familiarity with industry trends, vendor solutions, and major OT/ICS hardware/software.

Passport or eligibility to obtain.

Master’s degree in business, engineering, or relevant technology (preferred).

2+ years of experience with LNG, generation, or refinery control systems.

Lifecycle experience including requirements, design, integration, testing, implementation, cutover, and post‑go‑live support.

PLC, RTU, DCS, SCADA configuration and programming experience.

Direct experience with PHMSA compliance requirements for pipeline OT.

Knowledge of API recommended practices for pipeline OT.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience.
• 7+ years experience in a business/consulting environment.
• Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background checks, drug screen, etc.).

Certifications

Major SCADA / IC system training beneficial.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

• Ability to travel up to 50%; typical travel up to 25%.
• Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days.
