PRN PTA (Healthcare)

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients within twenty-four (24) hours or one business day of physician referral. Document delays clearly in the medical record if evaluation cannot be completed within this timeframe.
  • Develop effective treatment plans and obtain approval from the referring physician.
  • Treat patients according to the physician’s treatment plan.
  • Assist the nursing department with training Restorative Aides.
  • Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants in patient care and related activities, following state practice acts.
  • Communicate with supervisors and healthcare team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
  • Participate in Patient Care Conferences, Utilization Review meetings, and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed.
  • Conduct in-service training for staff members.
  • Maintain accurate records of evaluations, treatment notes, progress notes, recertification documentation, and treatment changes, complying with PT Board State Practice Act and payer requirements.
  • Instruct patients’ families or nursing staff in maintenance and caregiver training in preparation for discharge.
  • Participate in discharge planning and facilitate ordering of necessary durable medical equipment (e.g., braces, walkers, canes).
  • Report equipment issues to ensure maintenance.
  • Establish positive and effective relationships with patients, families, staff, and colleagues.
  • Supervisory Requirements: Supervise PT assistants, aides, and students.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy;
      Master’s or Doctorate preferred.
    • Proficient in computer skills such as Casamba and Point Click Care.
    • Ability to read technical procedures and manuals.
    • Effective communication skills with managers, coworkers, and families.
    • Ability to apply mathematical concepts and solve practical problems.
    • Interpret written, oral, diagram, or scheduled instructions.
    • Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state; ongoing education compliance required.

    Physical Demands: Standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, and lifting requirements as specified.

    Work Environment: Low to moderate noise levels, accommodations available for disabilities.
