PRN PTA (Healthcare)

Responsibilities:

Evaluate patients within twenty-four (24) hours or one business day of physician referral. Document delays clearly in the medical record if evaluation cannot be completed within this timeframe.

Develop effective treatment plans and obtain approval from the referring physician.

Treat patients according to the physician’s treatment plan.

Assist the nursing department with training Restorative Aides.

Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants in patient care and related activities, following state practice acts.

Communicate with supervisors and healthcare team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.

Participate in Patient Care Conferences, Utilization Review meetings, and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed.

Conduct in-service training for staff members.

Maintain accurate records of evaluations, treatment notes, progress notes, recertification documentation, and treatment changes, complying with PT Board State Practice Act and payer requirements.

Instruct patients’ families or nursing staff in maintenance and caregiver training in preparation for discharge.

Participate in discharge planning and facilitate ordering of necessary durable medical equipment (e.g., braces, walkers, canes).

Report equipment issues to ensure maintenance.

Establish positive and effective relationships with patients, families, staff, and colleagues.

Supervisory Requirements: Supervise PT assistants, aides, and students.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy;
Master’s or Doctorate preferred.
Proficient in computer skills such as Casamba and Point Click Care.
Ability to read technical procedures and manuals.
Effective communication skills with managers, coworkers, and families.
Ability to apply mathematical concepts and solve practical problems.
Interpret written, oral, diagram, or scheduled instructions.
Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state; ongoing education compliance required.

Physical Demands: Standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, and lifting requirements as specified.

Work Environment: Low to moderate noise levels, accommodations available for disabilities.
