Job Summary and QualificationsThe Pharmacy Technician Coordinator is responsible for collaborative oversight of the daily technician workflow in the pharmacy. This includes hiring, training, and evaluating Pharmacy Technicians (Tech I, Tech II, and Tech III) among other duties. The Pharmacy Technician Coordinator will work with the Pharmacy Operations Managers/Director of Pharmacy on special projects as assigned. They must be able to accurately perform advanced and basic pharmacy technician functions in a timely manner.
In addition, they are responsible for performing duties associated with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs) and other specialized duties and/or leadership roles as assigned by the pharmacy management team. Supervises Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Interns and Pharmacy Students.
What you will do in this role:
- Identifies critical issues, prioritizes workload and communicates to appropriate personnel any issues in a timely manner.
- Completes all education requirements and/or other activities needed to maintain competency.
- Complies with facility policy and procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Interacts in person and by phone with hospital personnel politely and appropriately.
- Receives daily wholesaler orders.
- Performs monthly unit checks and outdates.
- Assists with annual inventory including pre‑count scheduling.
- Attends meetings as needed.
- Performs pharmacy staff scheduling and handles staffing issues, including staffing in shifts if critical needs are identified.
- Accurately maintains and coordinates required documentation logs.
- Provides direction and training to technicians, interns and pharmacy students.
- Evaluates technicians, interns and pharmacy students to ensure that policies and procedures and regulatory requirements are uniformly and consistently followed.
