You will work individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for our clients. Together, you will help our clients make critical changes to improve their performance and realize their most important goals.

  • Provide legal advice and support on a broad range of contractual, commercial, insurance, and litigation issues
  • Review design, engineering, engineer‑procure‑construct, design‑build and construction management contracts, subcontracts, bids, equipment agreements, industry standard documents (AIA, EJCDC, Consensus Docs, DBIA) and owner‑drafted contracts
  • Lead contract negotiation in coordination with the vice‑president & corporate counsel, the executive team, and project leadership teams
  • Support implementation of risk‑management and mitigation policies and procedures
  • Interface with clients, client legal teams, and our internal client development team to support client development and secure work on constructed and integrated project opportunities
  • Counsel teams on project selection risks, appropriate project delivery methodology, and adherence to the firm’s commercial, legal, and risk management preferences
  • Manage project‑related dispute resolution (client discussions, liens, discovery, mediations, arbitrations, litigation, position papers, settlement agreements); coordinate with the executive team, insurers, and outside counsel on dispute resolution strategies
  • Manage our builder’s risk program
  • Maintain and update the firm’s library of standard contracts, forms, and templates
  • Collaborate closely with Design Group and Barry‑Wehmiller safety teams to promote a culture of safety and wellness and confirm that safety policies and practices are properly addressed in contracts
  • Assist with labor/employment issues and coordinate resolution of any disputes with outside counsel and insurers
  • Make an impact day‑to‑day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team
What You’ll Bring
  • A minimum of three years of legal experience
  • A background in construction law, contract negotiation, and insurance matters within a law firm or an in‑house legal department (preferred)
  • Excellent legal writing and presentation skills
  • The capability to effectively build teams, internal partnerships, and relationships with senior members of organizational divisions
  • The skills to distill complex legal problems into easily understood language with straightforward, practical solutions tailored to business needs
  • The ability to handle multiple competing priorities
  • Licensure in at least one of the United States
  • A willingness to travel up to 15%
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
