We are seeking an experienced and visionary Group Director to lead a dynamic team of over 50 professionals specializing in municipal roadway, water resources, and electrical planning and engineering design services across our Central States Office, located in Kansas City, MO;
Overland Park, KS;
Des Moines, IA;
St. Louis, MO; and Oklahoma City, OK.

• Direct and supervise the development and management of operating budgets for the departments within the Group and coordinate with the office’s budget.
• Oversee group activities, establish priorities, and assign staff to projects. Collaborate with other groups, offices and divisions on work‑sharing needs and opportunities.
• Drive implementation of the firm’s strategic plan and HNTB’s Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA) process on project pursuits and markets.
• Drive implementation of the firm’s contracting (SCA) process through project delivery and contracting activities.
• Drive implementation of the firm’s project delivery (SDA) process, including work planning, monthly project reviews and other performance methods to ensure quality, on‑time delivery.
• Assist in marketing responsibilities, including client discovery, proposal generation, interviews, and win‑to‑work activities.
• Maintain client contacts to ensure client satisfaction and lead sales and marketing efforts for departmental growth.
• Participate in the development and execution of the office strategic plan and may join the Office Leadership Team.
• Recruit, hire, develop and retain department staff, including supporting managers with reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession planning.
• Manage assigned project management activities—scope, schedule, budget and quality—and perform technical discipline tasks.
• Lead a group with direct and indirect supervision of at least 25 to 40 employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 12 years of practical experience, including 4 years of supervisory experience.

• Master’s degree
• 15 years practical experience
• 6 years supervisory experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification
• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification
• Project Management Professional (PMP)
• Municipal, federal and private sector client relationships across the Midwest, ideally in major metropolitan areas of Kansas City, MO/KS;
  St. Louis, MO;
  Des Moines, IA; and Oklahoma City, OK
