Description:

This position primarily focuses on medical-surgical nursing. The ideal candidate should be proficient in labor and delivery. The nurse will manage medical-surgical patients. They will be pulled to an obstetrical patient when one presents. The nurse should be able to manage the patient through delivery and postpartum care. The patient ratio for medical-surgical is 1:4. The labor and delivery patient ratio is 1:1.

It is rare to have two laboring patients simultaneously. No scheduled on-call hours are required unless there is low census. In that case, the nurse may be asked to be on-call for any obstetrical patient that presents. Medical and religious exemptions for the flu vaccine are allowed. Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers.
