Position: Lead Groundskeeper

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt
Work Schedule, Hours per week: Wednesday-Saturday, 6:00 AM-4:30 PM, 40 hours per week
Starting Salary Range: $18.22-$23.31, determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.
Position Summary: Maintain landscape plantings to include flower and shrub beds, turfgrass, native grass plantings, trees and tree rings. Work will involve mowing and trimming, weeding and watering shrub and flower beds, mowing and weeding of the native grass areas and tree maintenance. Will assist with snow removal and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications- Requires a High School Diploma and 3+ years of related experience.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record to be insured to operate college vehicles.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Ensure the upkeep of the JCCC grounds to maintain excellent curb appeal.
- Maintain shrub beds, tree rings, and flower beds, including weeding, watering, chemical applications, and installing and replacing plant materials.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and adjust irrigation systems.
- Dispense chemical applications on turf around the entire campus, including preemergent, grub, and insect prevention to trees and shrubs, flower beds, and gravel areas.
- Perform winter snow removal on campus by snowplowing, sweeping, shoveling, and applying ice melt, salt, and sand. Be available for all hours for snow emergencies.
- Prepare for campus and athletic events, such as graduations, outside athletic rentals, and student events.
- Maintain JCCC athletic fields, both turf and synthetic turf.
- Perform seasonal landscaping projects, such as tree and shrub removal, replant or trim, dress top soil and re-seed, establish drainage, remove fall leaves, and cut back ornamental grasses.
- Maintain signage areas and curbs.
- Support other departments with special requests, such as assisting the sustainability team with metal objects or driving a forklift for the Facility Maintenance team.
- Other duties as assigned.
